About this Blog

Glad you found us! We are dekoposh, Inc. a Tween/Teen company with a mission to empower V.I.T.s (very important tweens and teens) to make positive changes today for a better tomorrow by volunteering, giving back, becoming leaders, and teaching others to do the same. The Green4Kids Blog is our Deko and Posh Recycle Club. The Deko and Posh Recycle Club (Green4Kids) is a recycle club that any elementary, middle, or high school student can start at their school. Deko and Posh teach the kids to start a recycle program at their school and learn how to give back! The recycle program teaches the kids how to recycle, how to work as a team, how to give back to their community, and how to help raise money for their school. The Last and Final Debate

Ok, I am just fired up! I can't believe this idiot John McCain compared Sarah Palin's son with Down Syndrome to Autism. He sited this in three different examples. Here is my response---Republicans have done absolutely nothing for the Autistic Community. The people who are helping the autistic community are people like you and I with their giving hearts. These damn Republicans don't even know what to do with Autistic children. Sorry, this is going to get loud, plug your ears. Fuck John McCain. Here is proof that the Republicans have done nothing, comparing Down Syndrome to Autism, what was he thinking? (oh, I forgot you need a brain to actually think intelligently) That is like saying apples taste the same as oranges. I know for a fact they have done absolutely because I live this life and I listen to all these mom's crying for help! Listen to me, we need a major change, we need Obama, we need to fix the economy, we need to fix our education system, we need to green our environment, and we don't need another republican in office.

Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle

Teach your kids to be GREEN today, they are never to young.

Reduce: Teach your kids, to turn lights off when not in use, turn off water while brushing teeth, turn T.V. off when nobody is watching it, keep the fridge doors closed, and you will be saving the earth and money.

Reuse: Toss catalogs, junk mail, and other "art supplies" from candy wrappers to bottle caps into a Craft Box. You will be amazed what kinds of art your children will come up with.

Recycle: Many recycling centers accept sippy cups and baby bottles. Check to see if one near you does at Earth 911.

Do-It-Yourself Cleaners the Natural Way

Here are some way to clean up naturally...

Make Soft Scrub = Add enough Simple Soap to 1/8 cup of baking soda to make a creamy mixture.

Appliance Cleaner = Dry baking soda shines up small appliances and even removes bread wrappers burned onto the toaster. Try rubbing a teaspoon onto your grubby blender of food processor with a clean flannel cloth.

Toilet Cleaner = Sprinkle toilet bowl with 1/4 cup of baking soda . Drizzle with 1/4 cup vinegar, then scour with a toilet brush.

Oven Cleaner = Sprinkle oven with 1/2 cup cup baking soda (more if needed) and spray with water. Let sit for several hours or overnight before scraping up stains and spills. Rinse thoroughly with water.

Hardwood Floor Cleaner = In a pail or bucket, mix 1/4 cup distilled white vinegar in one gallon warm water. Mop wood or linoleum floors, then rinse with water, making sure not to leave large pools to dry.

All these recipes and more can be found in a book called Green Clean, by Linda Mason Hunter and Mikki Halpin.

5 Tips to Be Green

1) Create a nontoxic all-purpose cleaner from peppermint oil, distilled white vinegar and water.

2) Buy only organic versions of fruits known to have the highest pesticide levels: peaches, apples, nectarines, strawberries, cherries

3) Store food in glass. Leftovers that sit in plastic containers may sop up hidden chemicals.

4) Cut down on plastic toys. Try wood with natural oil finishes or plush toys made with untreated cotton instead.

5) Look for sheets made from linen, hemp or bamboo. For conventional bedding, wash before use to rinse away manufacturing residues.
